Environmental Advisor – Gas Transmission – UK Nationwide

This is where you come in:

Due to the rapid expansion of Rhead Group’s business both within the UK and internationally we have a requirement for an Environmental Advisor to join our expanding QHSE Team. Previous experience within the Gas transmission sector would be a distinct advantage.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Timely delivery of documentation to ensure programmes are met
  • Carry out desk based reviews of environmental constraints
  • Co-ordination of environmental surveys
  • Participate in regular site visits
  • Review of contractors’ environmental performance against targets
  • Provide guidance and support to contractors
  • Document Review (such as, Habitat Survey Reports, Contaminated Ground Investigation Reports, RAMS, PEMPs, SWMPs, Materials Management Plan)
  • Provide support and Advice to teams both remotely and on site
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation
  • Dissemination of Best Practice
  • Tool Box Talks
  • Safety Alerts/Bulletins
  • Monitor compliance against Construction Phase Plans
  • Implementation of new initiatives/schemes
  • Provide support and advice to Project Engineers and Project Supervisors/Site Engineers
  • Review of design changes which may have environmental impact
  • Attendance at HAZCONs


  • Environmental based Degree or MSC (relevant to the particular specialism)
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years industry experience
  • Holds a current EUSR safety passport
  • Knowledge / Skills / Behaviours:
  • Has experience in the production of Environmental Impact Assessments for gas pipelines and AGIs
  • Has experience in provisions of environmental determinations
  • Has experience in obtaining and interpreting new legislation and its impact on gas specific projects
  • Understand the interface between H&S issues and environmental issues
  • Has experience in planning/consenting processes (particularly with relevance to their specialism)
  • Has experience in obtaining and interpreting new legislations and its impact on gas specific projects
  • Has experience in the assistance for production and review of RAMS/works procedures
  • Aware of Accident, Incident and Near Miss Reporting and Investigation (COMPASS)
  • Understands the risks of hazardous areas
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
