Risk Consultants - Nationwide


Rhead Group is a professional services organisation supporting clients across the whole project lifecycle within the Energy, Power, Infrastructure and Defence sectors, across the UK, Middle East and Asia/Pacific.


Due to the rapid expansion of Rhead Group’s business both within the UK and internationally we have requirements for Risk Consulants to join our expanding Risk Assurance Team supporting our service offering within the Defence, Infrastructure, Energy and Power sectors. As an integral part of the team you will deliver strategic and operational risk consultancy, including training services, to assigned clients. The Risk Consultant will also explore opportunities for Business Development, and will be responsible for generating additional client commissions through business relationships.


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Provide generalist Risk Consultancy on site with clients, including analysis, definition of the risk register, risk management training, development of policy/process to support risk management integration.
  • Consult with clients to control hazards in order to reduce or prevent losses.
  • Influence clients to implement suggestions for exposure/risk reduction.
  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct research for clients on class of business, operations, specific loss issues and any other technical subject requiring similar analysis.
  • Maintain timely, relevant communications with the Delivery Manager for Risk Consulting.
  • React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  • Able to operate autonomously, with authority and gravitas.
  • Able to identify client requirements that involve all consultancies offerings, hold target for business development and sales.
  • Able to identify new capabilities for development of technical capability, marketing material and value propositions.
  • Able to take on trainees in a coaching or mentoring role.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Occupational Safety, Insurance or related field, and experience in insurance and Risk Management, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ideally MIRM or working towards MIRM.

Knowledge / Skills / Behaviours:

  • Ideally minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar remit, within a consultancy environment.
  • Must be a self-starter, imaginative and creative with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Should have thorough understanding Risk Management.
  • Strong inter-personal skills as well as strong problem solving skills and analytical abilities.
  • Able to make complex technical information and recommendations understandable and clear to audiences with varied levels of technical knowledge.
  • Able to influence others to take action on suggestions.
  • Listens effectively.
  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner at all times.
  • Proficient Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point software programs.
  • Demonstrates good understanding of ARM, @Risk or other similar tools.
  • Experienced in high quality risk analysis and schedule risk analysis modelling.
