SHE/CDM Advisor (Electrical Power Distribution)- West Midlands

This is where you come in:

Due to the rapid expansion of Rhead Group’s business both within the UK and internationally we have a requirement for a CDM Coordinator to join our expanding Health and Safety Team.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • CDMC Trained
  • Witness/Hold Points
  • FAT/SAT
  • Handover documentation/Certification Management
  • NCR Management
  • Construction QA
  • Manage specification changes
  • NCR Management
  • Compile pre-construction information for the Works Programme
  • Reviewing Design Contractor’s design plan and CDM Risk Register and ensuring that the design of temporary works has been given appropriate consideration in consultation with the Design Coordinator
  • Ensure the Coordination of design work, planning and other preparation for construction, including temporary works, where relevant to health and safety
  • With support from ‘Technical and Health & Safety Experts’ give advice to the client in order to help them to comply with their CDM duties.
  • Ensure systems are in place to manage the competence of the entire Project Delivery Team (including Client Representatives, Consultants, Contractors, Designers and Sub-contractors).
  • Promote and manage collaborative working between duty holders.
  • Notify the HSE about the project – F10 submissions throughout the project
  • Ensure the suitability of welfare provisions and that the Construction Phase Plan complies with CDM Regulations & requirements
  • Liaise with the Design Coordinator to ensure that the Temporary Works register is being maintained and reviewed by competent engineers
  • Ensure the flow of health and safety information between the client, designers and contractors
  • Facilitate the production and update of the Health and Safety file as required
  • Monitor the development and management of the CDM Risk Register throughout all design phases including the identification and ownership of mitigation measures and the communication of residual risk to the asset operator
  • Provide representation at Formal Process Safety Assessments (e.g. HAZOP) and Project Design Meetings as required


Qualifications:

  • Registered with APS/ICE as a competent CDM coordinator or at least on CPD cycle to attain membership
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent safety Qualification
  • SHEA Gas, Persons and BESC (Electric)

Knowledge / Skills / Behaviours:

  • In depth knowledge of the CDM Regulations and how to apply them
  • Experience in providing CDM training to projects for the duty holders within the CDM regulations
  • Understands HS&E Management System and requirements
  • Understanding of the critical interface between temporary and permanent works and how this can be managed
  • Experience in design risk management within the design stage of the project
  • Experience in collating all pre construction information for design and construction works.
  • Experience at Managing the health and safety communication between client, designer and contractor, attending meetings for briefings and document handover as required
  • Experience in ensuring design contractors / principal contractors mitigate hazard and risks to ensure CDM compliance throughout all stages of the project
  • Experience in preparing F10 Notifications to the HSE
  • Experience in assessing competency and suitability of designers and contractors.
  • Experience in Coordinating Health and Safety aspects of the design work, ensuring cooperation and coordination with others on the project
  • Experience in the review of the construction phase Health and Safety Plan for compliance and advising client when necessary
  • Experience at undertaking health and safety audits and inspections as required
  • Experience at reviewing the design change process during construction to ensure that changes are covered by the Construction Phase Plan
  • Experience in ensuring handover documentation (incorporating H&S file) is compiled
  • General understanding of UK legislation relevant to the construction industry
  • Awareness of the importance of competence management systems
